Changelog

New features, improvements, and fixes in every version of ego (lite).

Last updated Jul 28, 2026

ego (lite) 0.4.5.8

Improvements

  • When an Agent is using the current Space, Settings and other user pages now open in a normal Space in the same Profile, avoiding task interruptions.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where deleting the only Space in a window left the window blank.

ego (lite) 0.4.5.7

Fixes

  • Fixed the sidebar (bookmarks, reading list, and other panels) not working after switching Spaces in multi-Profile setups.
  • Fixed several stability issues that could cause the app to crash.

ego (lite) 0.4.5.6

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where closing the last tab in a window switched to another Space instead of closing the window.

ego (lite) 0.4.5.5

Features

  • Tabs can now be muted individually, giving you control over audio playback per tab.
  • The CLI can now connect to a specific browser instance by server name, making it easier to automate multi-Profile, multi-agent, or multi-instance setups.

Improvements

  • Task Space and window state management is more reliable: improvements to Space migration, window close, Profile switching, and session restore reduce duplicate frames, state loss, and accidental delete confirmations.
  • Browser data auto-sync now only runs when ego (lite) is not the default browser and the sync interval has elapsed, with support for sync plans across multiple Chromium profiles.
  • Browser source discovery now runs off the UI thread, reducing the chance of the interface stalling during data sync checks.
  • Copy for import data sync, default browser prompts, and onboarding is clearer, making current settings easier to understand.
  • The macOS DMG install experience now defaults to double-click install, with updated background art and window layout; preview builds still use the drag-to-install layout for release checks.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where refreshing the overlay in a background or non-current Task Space could override the current user-control state.
  • Fixed Command-W in a user-controlled Space incorrectly triggering the Agent task delete confirmation.
  • Fixed transient, incognito, pending-delete, and other non-restorable windows being incorrectly migrated during migration.
  • Fixed an issue where a failed ego-browser Node.js script could still cause the outer CLI to report success.
  • Fixed CLI task creation not landing on the regular Profile and creating a visible Task Space when only incognito windows existed.
  • Fixed the CLI CDP bridge allowing new browser targets to be created via Target.createTarget.
  • Fixed the Windows Start Menu shortcut label not using the ego (lite) product name.

ego (lite) 0.4.4.15

Features

  • Agent tasks can now run with a specified browser Profile, so each task can use the appropriate login state, browsing data, and context.
  • A new “Keep browser data up to date” setting can periodically sync supported data, including bookmarks and history, from a detected source browser.
  • Space cards now show the running status of Agent tasks, making task progress easier to check at a glance.

Improvements

  • Closing the last tab in a Task Space now removes that Space immediately.
  • After browser data import finishes, the newly imported Profile window now opens automatically.
  • URLs opened outside an Agent task now open in a regular browser window instead of being added to a running Task Space.
  • Browser keyboard shortcuts now restore correctly after you take over a task from an Agent.
  • Task tabs created by an Agent are muted by default, so they do not interrupt your current browsing or media playback.
  • Imported browser themes are preserved without overriding the appearance of ego (lite).
  • After a browser update, the ego-browser CLI and supported Agent integrations now sync to the current version automatically.

Fixes

  • Fixed crashes that could occur in private windows and other non-standard browser windows in some situations.
  • Fixed title-bar layout issues in standalone app windows such as PWAs.
  • Fixed crashes that could occur in some information-bar scenarios.

ego (lite) 0.4.3.9

This update includes changes from 0.4.2.21 through 0.4.3.9.

Features

  • Attachments now open in your default desktop app, so you can view and edit files without extra steps.

Improvements

  • Agent Space now shows clearer progress while a task is running, with smoother transitions when the agent starts or returns control.
  • Fullscreen mode is more predictable: the tab bar no longer appears or disappears unexpectedly.
  • Browser data import is more reliable. The app no longer quits unexpectedly during import, and imported tabs restore correctly.
  • Update reminders now show up sooner, making it easier to stay current.

Fixes

  • Fixed crashes that could happen when closing a window with running tasks or switching Spaces.
  • Fixed duplicate tab groups when restoring a window from the Dock on multi-monitor setups.
  • Fixed an issue where global keyboard shortcuts sometimes stopped responding.

ego (lite) 0.4.2.21

This update includes changes from 0.4.1.3 through 0.4.2.21.

Features

  • A new welcome page opens after first install and guides you through setting up the command-line tool, from installation to your first run.
  • Press F12 to open Developer Tools quickly.

Improvements

  • Transitions are smoother when the agent starts or finishes a task, with loading indicators that reduce blank screens while you wait.
  • Space animations and interactions feel more polished. Cards move more smoothly after you delete a Space, close confirmations are clearer, and the post-install tip stays visible until you open it.
  • Importing browser data now triggers fewer unnecessary restarts.

Fixes

  • Fixed a crash that could happen when closing an agent task.
